How to order a DirectCLOUD connection for Oracle

DE-CIX PDM Team Updated by DE-CIX PDM Team

This article provides a step-by-step guide for selecting and ordering our DirectCLOUD connection product for Oracle Cloud via our portal.

Prerequisites

You have to create a FastConnect Virtual Circuit first in your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Console and retrieve the Virtual Circuit OCID. You find an instruction here (complete Task 1 through Task 3, select DE-CIX as the partner).

Guide

  1. Choose your provider
    1. In the DE-CIX portal start with Add Service and choose Add DirectCLOUD Service.
A new page appears guiding you through the provisioning process.
    2. Click on the Oracle Cloud Icon to proceed and then push Next.

  1. Provider Credentials
    1. Provide the Virtual Circuit OCID of the FastConnect Virtual Circuit you created in OCI. If you need any help retrieving this information, click on the how-to link.

Note The Virtual Circuit OCID is generated when you create the FastConnect Virtual Circuit in the OCI Console. It requires a Dynamic Routing Gateway (DRG) to be set up and attached to your VCN beforehand. Without it, no traffic will flow. See Task 1 of the Oracle guide linked above.

  1. Click Next to proceed.

  1. Service Details
    1. Specify the following service details:
      • Cloud On-Ramp Location: the FastConnect location you selected when creating the Virtual Circuit in OCI
      • Metro Area of your Access: please specify in which metro we should hand over the service to you
      • Bandwidth: select the desired bandwidth — this should match the provisioned bandwidth in your OCI Virtual Circuit
      • External reference and Purchase order are optional fields and can be any text.
      • Contract duration: you can choose the duration of the service and get different quotes
    2. Click Next to proceed.

Check all your values and place your order by clicking on the Order button. You can optionally add an additional address for order confirmation.

Now the order is processing. Once complete, you see an order confirmation and receive an email.

  1. Provisioning
    1. Click on Next to go to the technical part of the ordering process.

Based on your configuration you can add the DirectCLOUD connection to either an Access port or a Cloud ROUTER.

  1. Click on Add connection details.
  2. Create the connection

Tip You can choose to complete this step later if needed.

  1. Specify your DE-CIX Access. This is the port where we hand over the service to you.
  2. Specify the VLAN-ID and VLAN ethertype.
  3. Click Next to finalize the setup.

After configuring the connection details, you have successfully created the DirectCLOUD connection, and you see the Cloud order completed screen.

Note Once DE-CIX has provisioned the connection, the lifecycle state of your Virtual Circuit in the OCI Console will switch from PENDING PROVIDER to PROVISIONED, and the BGP session state will change to UP.
