Add a DirectCLOUD configuration

Joseph Thorwest Updated by Joseph Thorwest

This article provides a step-by-step guide for attaching a DirectCLOUD connection for AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or IBM to your Cloud ROUTER.

This article does not provide guidance on how to create a Cloud ROUTER service itself. For this purpose, see Create a Cloud ROUTER.

Guide

Before you can add a connection to a DirectCLOUD service, you need to order a DirectCLOUD service itself. You find the guides for your desired cloud down below.

  1. Follow those guides up to and including step 5 a.
  2. Instead of following step 5 b, click on Add connection details from the Connect to Cloud ROUTER field. This attaches the Cloud VLAN to the Cloud ROUTER.
  3. Configure the DirectCLOUD connection
You can choose to complete this step later if needed. For this purpose, follow these guides for Azure, AWS, IBM or GCloud.
    1. Specifying the following information:
      • Your Cloud Router
      • External Reference: The name for your configuration
      • The BGP IP of the Cloud Router with the subnet mask (we recommend using a /30)
      • The BGP IP of the Cloud Service Provider
      • BGP Password (Optional)
      • The BGP Neighbour ASN:
        • CSP ASNs
          • GCP: 16550
          • Azure: 12076
          • IBM: 13884
          • AWS: is the ASN you have configured in the portal
      • Cloud VLAN (not mandatory for every CSP)
    2. Click on Submit.
The default setting for BFD (Bidirectional forwarding detection) is "yes". We recommend not changing it, as it improves the stability of your connection.

You successfully attached your connection to the Cloud ROUTER.

If the CSP side is well configured, the BGP will be up after some minutes.
