This article provides an overview of the DE-CIX API, explains how to use it, and outlines the benefits it offers.
DE-CIX API: Simplifying IX services
DE-CIX offers its customers an API (Application Programming Interface) to easily order, configure and cancel interconnection services. It supports fully end-to-end automated processes, available 24/7/365 for all relevant DE-CIX services.
The complete, always up-to-date reference for the DE-CIX API — including all endpoints, request/response examples, and authentication details — is maintained in our Postman documentation:

This is the one-and-only reference you need for integrating with the DE-CIX API.
Technical background: IX-API foundation
The DE-CIX API is built on IX-API: https://ix-api.net/, an industry standard for interconnection provisioning at Internet Exchanges, jointly designed and developed by AMS-IX, DE-CIX and LINX. DE-CIX implements and interprets the IX-API standard, currently supporting IX-API specification v2.5.0 for customer integrations. Note that the public IX-API reference documentation may include newer specification versions — these are not automatically supported by the DE-CIX API. When integrating, please always refer to our DE-CIX API Documentation (Postman): https://api-docs.de-cix.net/ as the authoritative source; the IX-API v2.5.0 Reference is provided for additional background only.
How to use the DE-CIX API
The DE-CIX API can only be used by DE-CIX customers. If you want to use it, the following steps are necessary:
- Request an API Key and an API Secret via the DE-CIX Portal: https://portal.de-cix.net/account/api-keys and accept the DE-CIX API Terms of use .
- Download the API key and the associated secret.
- Depending on the API version you are using, the API endpoints for your requests are https://api.de-cix.net/api/v1 or https://api.de-cix.net/api/v2.
- Explore all available endpoints and try out requests directly in our API Documentation (Postman): https://api-docs.de-cix.net/.
Automated processes, cost-efficient and fast
Using the API offers several benefits. It reduces the time for ordering, configuring and cancelling interconnection services from days to minutes. The API is available 24/7/365 and requires less cost and effort per transaction.
